Tasted 16th September 2018
Don’t you love the name? Impossible for an English tongue – but it comes from the ‘church wine garden.’ Dense purple, with some stewed black cherry fruit aromas and a touch spicy. Some weight, but lovely acid rippling through it. The tannin is not excessive, though quite drying on the finish, a touch of very integrated oak and good length. Not necessarily a great wine, but a really enjoyable drink, easy without being simple.
